Navajo Nation Environmental Protection Agency

Navajo Nation Public Water Systems Supervision Program Public Notice for: Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS); Consumer Confidence Report (CCR3) and;  Lead and Copper Rule Improvement (LCRI), Navajo Nation Safe Drinking Water Act revisions.

The Navajo Nation Environmental Protection Agency’s mission is to protect human health, land, air and water resources by developing, implementing, and enforcing the environmental laws and regulations. 

1.     The current Navajo Nation Primary Drinking Water Regulations (NNPDWR) will be revised to include the PFAS.  These regulations will be added to the NNPDWR at §2800.

2.     The NNPDWR will also be revised to include LCRI at §2900.

3.     The Consumer Confidence Report regulations at §1200 will be amended to include updated requirements as set forth by the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

Copies of these proposed amendments to the regulations can be obtained by calling the Navajo PWSSP Office at (928) 871-7755.  The proposed amendments can also be found on the Navajo EPA’s website address of www.navajoepa.org.

The deadline to submit comments is March 31, 2026.  Comments may be mailed to the Navajo PWSSP at P.O.  Navajo Nation Public Water Systems Supervision Program Public Notice for Lead Free Revision; Lead Free Revision to the Navajo Nation Primary Drinking Water Act and Lead Free Revision to the Navajo Nation Safe Drinking Water Act

The Navajo Nation Environmental Protection Agency’s mission is to protect human health, land, air, and water resources by developing, implementing, and enforcing environmental law and regulations. 

 1.     The current Navajo Nation Primary Drinking Water Act Regulations (NNPDWR) will be revised to include the “Lead Free Regulations”. These regulations will be added in the NNPDWR at Part VII.

 2.     The current Navajo Nation Safe Drinking Water Regulations (NNSDWA) will be revised to include the “Lead Free Regulations”.
