Resource Conservation and Recovery Program
Enforces the Navajo Nation Solid Waste Act and regulations throughout the Navajo Nation based on complaints received by telephone or walk-ins. Enforcement is taken against responsible parties.
Provides technical and compliance assistance with solid waste issues as applicable.
Provides guidance with applications for grants to address solid waste issues, as they become available.
Performs site assessments related to solid waste issues and solid waste characterizations.
Provides educational outreach on recycling, composting, and prevention of illegal dumping.

Proper Disposal Facilities
Transfer Stations, Open Top Bins, and Permitted Landfills are located at or near various Navajo Chapter governments throughout the Navajo Nation.

Illegal Dumping
It is unlawful for any person to dispose of any solid waste in a manner that will harm the environment, endanger the public health, safety and welfare or create a public nuisance.

Proper Carcass Disposal
It is important to immediately report all large dead animals or dead birds to your local grazing official and applicable Navajo Nation Agency. Responsible livestock and animal owners will use the permitted landfills on the list below for disposal of carcasses.
